Sebrina's Faith Circle Spotlight
October 1, 2026
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time to honor survivors, remember those we have lost, support those currently walking through treatment, and encourage women to stay aware of their health.
This month, our Faith Circle Spotlight celebrates what happens when faith moves beyond words and becomes action.
Sometimes faith looks like showing up.
Sometimes it looks like walking beside someone through treatment.
Sometimes it looks like providing a ride, preparing a meal, encouraging a survivor, or helping a family carry a burden.
“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
— James 2:26 (KJV)
A representation of the community and solidarity that carries so many through their journey.
Communities everywhere are putting faith into action this October. Susan G. Komen hosts breast cancer events nationwide—a great place to start if you're looking for something near you.

Walk by Faith Breast Cancer Support Services, a signature program of Wellness Bridge Foundation, provides compassionate support and practical assistance to women and families navigating cancer—helping make sure no one has to walk the journey alone.
Each year, the Walk By Faith Breast Cancer Walk for Life brings survivors, caregivers, loved ones, and community members together in Bowie, Maryland, for a day of remembrance, celebration, support, and hope.

A Legacy of Compassion
This month, as we spotlight Walk By Faith, we also pause to honor the woman whose life and legacy helped inspire its mission.
Marian Elizabeth Atwater was known for her compassion, generosity, servant leadership, and deep commitment to others. She consistently showed up with kindness, encouragement, and support—especially during life's most difficult moments.
In 1996, Marian was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and given six months to live. She lived five years beyond that prognosis, her faith remaining steady as she continued pouring into the people around her.
Today, Marian's spirit of compassion lives on through Walk by Faith Breast Cancer Support Services and Wellness Bridge Foundation, where patients and families navigating cancer receive the care, support, and sense of community that she so freely gave to others.
A life of faith and service can leave a legacy that continues caring for others.
